Amazing morning

Wow, I had the most amazing, positive, empowering morning.  I went to a prenatal yoga class, to get things moving some more and just to make me feel better.  It was the best yoga class I've gone to my whole pregnancy.  I am so grateful for Harmony, that there is a place like it so close to where I live, a place that is such a sanctuary of positive energy for mama's.
This mornings class was with a different teacher, equally wonderful as my Thursday evening teacher, but a completely different style.  Today's teacher is much more laid back and did so many poses specifically for me, poses I can do while in labor and poses to get baby zamboni to move on down.
After the class was done, she and the other pregnant mama's, did a little circle blessing for me.  She does this for the pregnant mama's that can give birth at any time and hopefully won't be coming back to prenatal yoga anytime soon.  I sat in the middle and all the other mama's sat in a tight knit circle around me, sealing in the energy.  I can't even put into words how it made me feel.  I had expressed concerns about not wanting to be induced again and she touched on that.  She basically wished for me to have the birth I wanted and that baby zamboni is going to come when she is ready.  And that I was ready to give birth, I was powerful and was going to be able to have natural birth again.   It was so lovely to feel all that positive energy.
If all that wasn't enough, the teacher invited me to stay and dance.  Her next class that she teaches is a Dancing for Birth class.  She was so sweet, told me it was her gift to me, I could stay at no charge because she really wanted to help get the baby moving.  It was so much fun to be dancing and moving my hips.  Again, she taught me even more ways to move my body to make giving birth an even more positive experience.

I am feeling so powerful right now and so ready for baby zamboni to come.  I have been so nervous about going into labor and now I just feel really ready.  Do you hear that zamboni?  Let's work together and get you out so we can all meet you!

"false contractions"

I am sure that a man came up with this term, "false contractions" (no offense to the men out there), but hey, these are not Braxton-Hicks, and there is definitely some "sensations" going along with the contractions.  We are avoiding using the word "pain" because of all the negative associations with it.  Last night, I was up for hours with false contractions, they were low in my belly and I definitely had to use my yoga breathing to get through them.  I am having them all the time, but still nothing regular.
I had to get up twice last night, at around 3:00 am and then around 4:30 am.  The contractions were keeping me up anyways and then I got hungry.  One thing I can not ignore are hunger pains in the middle of the night.  I tried to put it off as long as I could, but finally had to get up and have a banana.  Then baby girl was happy, moving all over the place.

Yes, it is the weekend, and I am still pregnant.  3 more days until my due date.  When is she coming???

39 week 1 day belly

Kekoa and I had so much fun taking belly pictures today.  He kept saying "belly to belly mama".  Oh my sweet boy.  I just couldn't decide which pictures to post...

predictions

Kekoa says she is coming Wednesday.
I say she is coming this weekend.
Scott says this Friday because he has the day off.

Do you have any predictions when she'll come?

mucus plug

So, I think I may have lost my mucus plug!  All that massage and acupuncture yesterday may have paid off in more ways than one.  I know that this doesn't necessarily mean anything, but at least things are moving along.  Plus I just keep having contractions, still nothing regular.

39 weeks

Yay, baby zamboni made it until my doctor came back.  Now she can come, anytime she wants, preferably before she is a week late!
I am actually a bit disappointed today.  I went to the doctor's office for a visit and there is still nothing going on with my cervix.  I don't know how this can be since I have been having contractions like crazy.  I was so bummed.  But she did say that the baby has dropped some, that is a good sign.  I personally think all these contractions are a good sign too.  With Kekoa, I felt nothing at all, no movement, no dropping, nothing.

Besides having a lot of contractions this past week, I am just feeling super pregnant.  There is so much pressure in my groin and pelvis area, it is crazy.  I move super slow, like a giant sloth.  My appetite is hit or miss, sometimes I'm really hungry, but can't really eat much at once.  Other times I can't eat anything at all, just not hungry.  I am still walking but my pace is super slow now.  I know I need to keep on walking, that it helps me not only feel better, but maybe bringing labor on.  Plus it is just really difficult to give 100% to Kekoa when I am this big!

I had a crazy day today.  Kekoa and I went to his school, bright and early, by 9:00.  He is so cute at school, just loves it.  Scott met us there so I could get to my doctor appointment by 10:00am.  I waited at the doctor's office for almost 45 minutes, stressing because I had an 11:00 prenatal massage appointment.  Plus, there was country music on, which I don't care for at all, and it was making me even more stressed.  I told the receptionist, almost in tears, because it has taken me so long to book the massage appointment.  She apologized and told me I could come back at 1:45, if that worked.  Luckily, my dad was already coming out to watch Kekoa for my 4:30 acupuncture appointment, so he came out early.
The prenatal massage was fabulous, she worked on pressure points to help labor get started. I'm hoping it does something!  She even gave me 25 minutes for free!  Oh, it was so nice.

After the massage, I rushed home to see Kekoa and Scott for a few minutes, eat some lunch and then had to rush back to the doctor's office.  Baby girl's heartbeat has dropped, 135, but that is what happens as she gets bigger.  My belly measured the same as last week, 38, but the doctor said that is because she dropped some.  Dr. Teagle asked me if I had any predictions when the baby would come.  I told her that I felt like she was going to come this week.  As she left the room, Dr. Teagle said, maybe I will see you this weekend! Hmmm, maybe.

Now I had a ton of time to kill before my acupuncture appointment.  So, on the advice of another mom friend that just had a newborn, I made a pedicure appointment.  Just the simple pedicure, no massage or anything, but I just wanted nicely painted toes!  Before the pedicure appointment I was able to take some time, by myself, and walk downtown.  I went to the library and leisurely browsed to find some books for me to read.  It was so nice.  I figure I should really treasure an afternoon alone since I won't have one for a very long time!

So, it was just a very busy day.  Even though it was a day filled with pampering, it was still exhausting to be gone pretty much the entire day.  I didn't get home until 6:00!  And I missed Kekoa so much.  I was super happy though that he got to spend some time with just his Papa Beezy, he really loved it.

Only 7 more days until my due date, that is just so crazy.

lots of contractions

Last night I started to get all kind of crampy contractions in my low abdomen.  I was telling baby zamboni that she can't come until at least next Monday evening or Tuesday, when Dr. Teagle will be back.  Needless to say that I didn't get much sleep, worrying that I was going into labor.  They stopped this morning, but I have been having a ton of Braxton-Hicks.  While I was on my walk this morning, my belly was just tight the entire time.  I am crossing my fingers that she cooks a bit longer!!

So full

Uuugh, it has happened again.  I can't eat very much and then I'm full forever.  This happened at the end when I was pregnant with Kekoa.  Yesterday I had breakfast, a sandwich for lunch and then didn't get hungry again until almost 10:00 at night!  Terrible.  Right now I am feeling so bloated from having half a bagel for lunch and some cherries. :(
At least I don't get heartburn (knock on wood).

And then these are just of my zamboni belly...

38 weeks

Ok, this baby girl has to cook for another week.  Why?  Because my doctor is out of town until May 21st.  I have an appointment with Dr. Teagle on May 22nd.  Did you hear that baby zambina??? Please cook for another week.  After that, you can come anytime you want! :)
Today I had an appointment with the on call doctor.  She is very nice, but I still want Dr. Teagle to deliver our baby girl.  Zamboni is growing, my belly grew 2 cm this past week, from 36 to 38.  Her heartbeat sounds strong too, 143 BPM.  I didn't have my cervix checked, so not sure what is going on down there.

I am having so many contractions all the time, Braxton-Hicks and other little ones that make me go, hmmmm, and take deep breaths until they pass.  I can't believe we can have a little girl at anytime or I could be pregnant for 3 more weeks.  Crazy.  I feel like she is putting on the pounds now.  My belly gets bigger by the second, I swear!  Maybe that is also because I have had a major sweet tooth these last weeks and eating more sweets than I normally do! :)

I feel like my body is falling apart right now.  My groin area hurts so much, it feels like I did 500 inner thigh lifts (which I didn't).  I am especially stiff in the mornings.  I can still go for my walks, but my pace has definitely slowed down.  There is just always all this pressure.  Acupuncture has been a life saver.  I wish I had time to go every day.  It is so relaxing, I get a great rest in and then just feel better the rest of the day and night.  I can't believe I used to go for a hike every day when I was pregnant with Kekoa, a steep climbing hike!  I can't imagine doing that right now in this pregnancy.

I have been trying to do as many last minute errands that I can...still have that nesting instinct going.  I finally cleaned out her moses basket of all the laundry that had been piling up in there.  I still want to get a couple of baskets for her closet and need to go to Costco one more time before she comes to stock up.  Good thing Costco is so close to us.
The nesting thing is crazy, I mean crazy.  I am having dreams of going to The Container Store to buy baskets and clear tubs and then organizing the hall closet with my label maker in tow.  I want everything super clean all the time, but just can't do it...moving, bending over and such is super uncomfortable. Plus, I will have these bursts of energy and then do too much.  The next day I get totally wiped out.

Kekoa has been loving his baby sister so much.  He tells me all the time, "mama, I love zamboni", as he hugs her and gives her smooches.  It is amazing to me how much he loves her already, how he can't wait to meet her too.  Zamboni gave him a book last night, another book about being the new big brother.  He loved it, was so excited to read it before bed.  His favorite part was the big brother helping give a bath, he thought that was so great.

I do worry though, worry about how my relationship with Kekoa will change.  He is such a mama's boy and I don't want him to feel hurt.  I worry most about the nights I will be away at the hospital.  I know he will be fine, but I can't help worrying, I am his mama!

37 weeks

Full term, I am now full term.  The waiting game begins.  When is she going to make her debut?  I was pregnant for another month with Kekoa...that is hard to imagine at this point.  How can my belly stretch for another month??

I had my doctor's appointment yesterday, which was very exciting because we were able to see our baby girl's ultra-sound.  She has chubby cheeks and lots of hair.  According to the measurements, she is 7 pounds 2 oz, but even the ultrasound technician doesn't think she is that big.  Her long legs are skewing the weight.  Kekoa kept saying, "that baby sister in mama's tummy?"  He was amazed, as we all were.  Her head is down, her little booty is in the middle of my belly and her legs are on my right side, which is what I had thought since that is where I feel her kicking me.  She is measuring 36 cm and I didn't gain any weight in the last week.  Hard to believe since I have been eating something sweet every day, but I'll take it!

While I am anxious to meet her, I am also cherishing these last few weeks of feeling her moving inside my big belly.  I love how my belly twitches and makes crazy shapes as she throws herself around in there.  I also love feeling her hiccup.  Kekoa thinks it is pretty funny when she hiccups.

I will be happy to not feel like such a beached whale though.  I feel the most stuck when I am laying in bed.  It takes so much effort to get up to use the loo.  Up until the last week or so, I haven't had to get up in the night to use the bathroom...amazing since I remember getting up multiple times in the night when I was pregnant with Kekoa.  It is like my body knows that Kekoa is now sleeping next to me and it is near impossible to get out of bed.

Any predictions on when this baby girl is going come?

36 week belly

36 weeks

One more week and I will be full term.  28 more days until the due date.  We are all just so anxious for her to come and to get to meet her.  Scott and I were talking about how she was going to be coming soon and Kekoa's whole face lit up.  He said, "Mama, zamboni coming now?", he was super excited.  He just loves her so much.  When I tell him I love you, he tells me, "I love you too mama, and I love baba and I love zamboni".  Funny how he knows at such a young age who is family is.  He also told me the other night, "I want baby sister in my room, I want her sleep in my room.  She gets that side and I get this side."

This baby girl loves my right side.  She kicks under my ribs, Kekoa never did that and it doesn't feel good.  Her little limbs keep poking out and making funky shapes out of my belly!  I'm not sure if it was a knee or what, but it made a sharp cone shape by my belly button the other night and stayed like that for awhile.

I am having a ton of Braxton-Hicks contractions, but no real contractions yet.  Yesterday I went to the doctor and everything is measuring fine.
The doctor also told me she would be leaving for 10 days...oh no!  From May 10-May 21st! I was crying in the car, stressing about this.  I don't want someone else delivering the baby, so I guess she can't come during those days.  Either she comes next week or she has to wait until week 39!!

36 weeks and getting a little more uncomfortable each day.  It is crazy how by the end of the day, my belly has grown and changed.  I can't believe she will be here soon...there is an end in sight! :)
