18 weeks

This little girl is twisting, turning, kicking, and doing all kinds of movement in my belly!  She is very active, it is so exciting to feel her.  The "grapefruit" is no longer, my tummy is just big now...I can't palm the bump in my hand anymore.

Kekoa gives his "ladybug" smooches and tells her he loves her...it is so sweet.  He was very excited tonight when I told him zamboni was telling him that she loves him very much.  

Almost half way there, can't believe it is going by so quickly.

17 weeks

I have been calling our little girl, zambina...sounds more girly.
She is a mover and a shaker, that is for sure.  I feel her daily and Scott has felt her give him a little kick too. It is like once I felt those little flutters last week, she has grown super strength or something.  It sure is amazing to feel our baby rolling around inside me.  She also likes to sit low, on my bladder area, which means I have to frequently use the bathroom.

We have been playing with names, but haven't come up with anything for sure.  Kekoa calls her "little ladybug", which is just so sweet.

Today I went to my first prenatal yoga class.  I feel so bad, with Kekoa I started going at 14 weeks.  It was so nice to go and have some bonding time with little zambina.  This pregnancy is going by so fast and I am so busy running around with Kekoa all day.  I am trying to figure out how I can go to yoga weekly...none of the times really fit into our schedule unless I get a babysitter.

I know a lot of women get a pregnancy glow, but I definitely do not.  My skin is a wreck right now, so dry and red.  I hope this passes.  These pregnancy hormones sure do a number on me!

All in all, I can't complain.  I am feeling pretty good, still get tired and have to rest by midday, but am able to exercise again.  We were in San Francisco all weekend and I just kept thinking how next year we will have a 3 year old and a 6 month old at this time.  I bought our little girl her first piece of clothing...a little jean dress from the Gap.  It is so adorable.  I know we are in trouble, girl clothes are just too cute.

• And she's growing some meat on those bones -- putting on some fat.
• She's growing a stronger, thicker umbilical cord, too.

a little sister (mei mei)

Kekoa is going to have a mei mei!  We are so excited to be adding a little girl to our family.  It will be nice to have "one of each" as everyone says.  We went in this morning for the ultra-sound and the guy was so funny.  He knew we were anxious to find out and made us wait to the very end.  After all the anticipation, I started totally crying when he told us.
I have been so anxious about this ultra-sound, haven't been able to sleep for the past week thinking about it.  Baby zamboni looks good in there.  She moves around more than Kekoa ever did in any of his ultra-sounds.  She even looked right at us, I saw her eye staring right at me.  I must admit, the profile view is much cuter. :)
Kekoa was with us and happy to see the zamboni.  He told me later, "I see zamboni turning."
Now we can really start thinking of names and of course buying some of those adorable girl clothes!
 As my friend Riquesha told me today, "Let the shopping commence!"

16 weeks

• She's listening to your voice, thanks to tiny bones forming in her ears.
• She's growing hair, lashes and eyebrows.
• And she's forming taste buds.

     

     3 more days and we find out if baby zamboni is a girl or boy.  We are super excited to find out.  Friday at 10 am is the appointment time.  Kekoa is coming too.

     So, the 16 week belly is definitely sticking out there.  I had Scott take these tonight, after we had just had delicious Korean food, so the belly is sticking out extra far.  I felt the flutterings last night of the baby, as I was trying to falling asleep.  I was very excited.  I remember the first time I felt Kekoa too, little butterflies in my tummy, while I was at Pigeon Point, over looking the ocean.  

     I am still waiting for the 2nd trimester energy to hit me.  By noon, I need to lay down and rest.  Making a baby is so tiring! :)  I haven't been sleeping great the past few nights, I think I am anxious about Friday and all the little things I still need to do to be ready for Christmas.

15 weeks

Yay, feeling so much better now.  I am definitely hungry again and need to always remember to pack snacks for myself.  The hunger hits super fast and hard, all of a sudden I will be starving like I haven't eaten in days or something.  The grapefruit lump is growing so fast.  Every morning, as I'm waking up, I lay in bed and feel the grapefruit.  This morning when I was rubbing the grapefruit, I swear it got so much bigger overnight!

The average fetus at 15 weeks weighs 2.5 ounces and measures 4 inches -- and his proportions are becoming even more normal, since his legs now outmeasure his arms.

ugh...what a rough week.  I got either food poisoning or a flu bug.  I felt just awful, like I was going to die. The nausea has come back too. :(

Kekoa now says he wants a "baby sister".  I love how it changes all the time and really can't wait to find out what we are having.  Kekoa has also been telling zamboni "I love you" as he kisses my tummy.  He likes it when I lift up my shirt so he can see my belly.  When he's done giving zamboni love, he says "cover it up mama".

I can't wait to stop feeling so icky and hope the nausea will go away again!  I was just starting to feel better in that department and actually wanting to eat.  I feel so terrible for the baby since I haven't been feeling like eating at all.  When I was so sick, I just had gatorade and a few saltines.

At week 14, your baby is 3.4 inches and 1.5 ounces, he's almost doubled in weight since last week and keeps on growing.
