zambina's nursery

As Scott says, our little girl's room is the nicest in the house. I have to agree. I love walking by, looking in, and feeling so peaceful and happy that it is pretty much done. It still needs some decorations on the walls, but it is all organized and ready to go. I even have the inside of the drawers labeled and organized!
We found a soft, fuzzy, rug at Target that added the perfect finishing touch. We have been enjoying sitting in the glider chair with Kekoa and he loves the new carpet! I find him in his little sister's room, playing on the carpet or checking it out. It is really cute.

So many clothes!! All organized by months.

All ready for you baby girl!

We got a doula!!

Wow, I can't believe how lucky we are. Scott's friend at work, Amy, is a doula and is going to be our doula at no charge!! What a wonderful and nice person she is. She came over today so we could meet and chat. I am super excited about this. We didn't have a doula for Kekoa's birth and really could have used one. It will be so awesome to have another person at the birth that knows different birthing positions and places to massage and to give Scott a break when he needs it. It is also really nice to have another person in our corner, supporting our decision to have a natural birth. I still can't believe it.

35 week belly

35 weeks

I am feeling fully 35 weeks pregnant right now.
Braxton-Hicks contractions? check
uncomfortable to sit? check
uncomfortable to lie down? check
feeling like a beached whale? check
not sleeping well at all? check

I swear my belly is growing exponentially by the minute! I had a doctor's visit yesterday and everything is looking great. Baby zambina is measuring 35 cm, right where she should be. Her heart beat was 145 bpm, which is good. I have gained a pound since my last visit, so moving right along in the weight gain department. :)

The Braxton-Hicks contractions are crazy. I don't remember having so many when I was pregnant with Kekoa. My belly gets all tight and uncomfortable. Dr. Teagle said it is normal to have more this time, especially since I am running around after a toddler.

My cervix is still tight as can be, no signs that she wants to come out anytime soon. I really hope this little girl isn't going to try and go to 41 weeks like her big brother! That was just too stressful.

She is still moving like crazy, running out of space in her living room, but still active. It never ceases to amaze me when I feel her in there. There is a little person in my tummy, ready to come out soon! She also gets the hiccups ALL the time, my whole body shakes. It is really cute to think of her in there, hiccuping away.

I was able to go run some errands after my appointment...crossing more things off the "to do" list. I found some perfect storage baskets for her room. I just love the Container Store, they have everything. Why is it so expensive to get organized? All the storage baskets and other organizational things are so expensive. I could have gone crazy, but just bought a few things that I needed right now.

I have never wanted to organize and get everything together so badly. It is like I have no control over it. I wish I was like this all the time, but I have a feeling this all has to do with that nesting instinct. Plus, I know when she comes, I will be too exhausted to care. It does feel good now thought to get things in place.

I guess my one real big complaint right now is the sleeping thing. Why is it that now, when I desperately want a good night sleep, my body says "no way Jose". I can't get comfortable and just don't sleep well. I am so happy that I have my sleep pillow, otherwise I couldn't stand laying in the bed.

We are all just super anxious to meet this little zambina. I can't believe it is getting so close!!

her hand

Last night, while Scott and I were sitting on the couch, baby zambina was moving around like crazy. I was trying to get comfortable, but her bony little body parts kept pushing out on my tummy...not very comfortable at all! Scott put his hand on my belly and exclaimed that he could feel her hand. We really could, it felt like her little fingers, pressing out and saying hello! It was so amazing. I can't wait to meet this little girl.

date for mama and baba

What a wonderful day Scott and I have had. We got to spend some much needed time together, not stressing about running errands or doing stuff we have to do, but just enjoying our time. Po Po came to spend time with Kekoa, which he was super excited about and we got to hang out together alone, which we were super excited about!
We went on a hospital tour first and let me tell you...I am so happy to be giving birth at El Camino Los Gatos. It is night and day from where Kekoa was born. It is more like a birthing center. They are totally supportive of natural birth, which is a huge relief. With Kekoa, it was like I was a freak because I didn't want drugs and the doctor really didn't support me at all. We left the hospital feeling really good, instead of like, we need to find another hospital.
Afterwards, we picked up sandwiches at our favorite sandwich place, The Purple Onion and headed to a local winery for a picnic. Today is an event called Passport Weekend, where many wineries are open for tastings only on Passport days. We found one really close by, up in the hills called Black Ridge Vineyards. The view was AMAZING and the people working there were so nice. They kept wanting to give us more wine as we sat and enjoyed their view. Yes, I did have a tiny bit of wine, my first time drinking anything since I have been pregnant. A few sips isn't going to hurt anyone, not even baby zamboni! :) There were all these yummy cheeses and dips set out too. Of course we sampled them all.
It is SUPER duper hot today, I was worried it would be too hot at the winery, but it was just perfect in the shade and there was a fabulous breeze. We could have stayed there all day, enjoying the gorgeous surroundings, but reality calls!

Thank goodness for Po Po!

it's hot, hot, hot

Pregnancy and heat definitely do not mix! The last two days have been scorching...in the 90's. I actually like the heat, but not when there isn't any time to acclimate. Last week it was cold and rainy, this week, in the 90's! I am warm enough without the weather adding more heat! :)
I am just so happy I won't be pregnant all summer.

got sleep?

Apparently I do not. It is 5:00 in the morning and I have been up since 4:00ish. I usually can't sneak out of bed (because there is a little monkey smooshed against my side) and just lay there, waiting to fall asleep again. This pattern of waking many times during the night has been going on for awhile. It sure doesn't leave me very well rested and with Kekoa's naps shrinking shorter and shorter, I am not getting caught up with my sleep during the day either. :(

I know once the baby comes I won't be getting any sleep, but it sure would be nice to have some now!

34 week belly photos

Baby Zambina got to go to the beach today! Perfect for belly photos.

34 weeks

Wow, I am 34 weeks pregnant...can't believe it. I have this big 'ol belly pooching out. Bending over to pick things up? Forget it...I have to do the squat. It is hard to ask for help when I am so used to doing things on my own. Scott is so sweet and tied my shoes for me. He had to do that when I was pregnant with Kekoa too.

The low pain in my belly comes and goes. It especially hurts in the evening time. My acupuncturist and doctor have told me to try a belly belt to take some of the pressure off. I am hoping that with some yoga poses that the pain will subside some. The thought of having to purchase something like a belly belt, that I won't need for much longer, doesn't sound very fun...but then the pain isn't fun either.

I am thinking that she could come sooner than later or I could be pregnant for almost another 2 months, which is just crazy. Kekoa was a week late, 41 weeks. I am really hoping she doesn't come late. That was just so stressful. Every week I go to prenatal yoga and there are two mamas there that are expecting any minute now. I keep seeing them though, last Thursday they were both 39 weeks, so I wonder if they will be there this week.

In the last few weeks, 5 mom's I know have given birth! How crazy is that? So many dragon babies this year! This has made me even more excited and anxious to meet our little girl.

All in all I really can't complain. Yes I am tired and all that stuff, but I can still walk every day, haven't been put on bed rest (knock on wood), I can still play, be silly, and wrestle with my son, and for the most part still feel pretty good. I just move a bit slower these days! :)

organized...finally

Today was a very productive day. We dropped Kekoa off at my mom's to get some work done around the house.
I have been wanting to set up little zambina's room for weeks and weeks now, but just can't seem to find the time. Today was the day. Scott put up the curtains and I got to go through and finish organizing everything. It feels so good to have it almost set up . We still need to get a rug and put some things on the wall. I also need to get a couple of baskets. We got our glider chair yesterday from Pottery Barn and it fits right in the corner perfectly. I am so excited to have an actual nursery set up. I never got to set up a nursery for Kekoa, so this is a special treat.
Hopefully I'll be able to get some sleep tonight instead of worrying about the baby room. It has been stressing me out so much, to have it in such disarray, stuff all over the place. Everything had pretty much been washed, but wasn't organized at all. I am a little bummed though, right in the middle of organizing and labeling, my label maker ran out of tape! Oh no! :)

33 weeks

Yesterday I had a doctor's appointment. Kekoa came with me and he was very good. He got to listen to "ladybug's" heartbeat and liked that. She is measuring bigger...yay, 33.5, which is right where she should be. Eating more I guess did help! The best part was that she grew so much but I only gained 1 pound! I am just happy that she is growing and her heartbeat is strong, 150.

This past week has been a tough one. I am really feeling pregnant, it is getting much harder to do things. I have decided I can't unload the dishwasher anymore...it kills my back to bend over like that. Oh darn! :) No, seriously, it is hard to start really having limits on what I can and can't do. And then I always try to do to much, which makes me grumpy because my body starts to really not feel good. My upper back is one big knot. I even had a prenatal massage, which was heaven, but the back is back in knots so quickly.
Putting on shoes is so hard and putting on Kekoa's shoes is even more difficult. I now have him sit on a seat so at least he is up a little higher. I am just lucky I have such a wonderful husband who sympathizes and take very good care of me!

Her movements are getting stronger and stronger. I felt a knee or elbow or something on Easter Sunday, so trippy! I still really enjoy feeling her moving, even if it hurts at times. There is really nothing like it. She still gets the hiccups constantly and makes my belly shake.

Dr. Teagle told me it probably isn't round ligament pain I am feeling but that my pubic bone has separated slightly. Great. I know from Pilates that this is not good and no wonder why it hurts so bad. Funny thing is that it seems to have gotten better, so maybe it has fixed itself? I can only hope.

My skin on my tummy, right above my belly button, has also been SUPER itchy this week. Oh my gosh, I just want to scratch, scratch, scratch...but resist the urge and slather on more belly butter!

My friend Tessa had her baby and seeing her pictures made me even more anxious to meet my little girl. I don't want her to come early or anything like that, but I am getting more and more excited.

It is pretty funny how you forget all the "fun" things that come with giving birth. I was reading today about things to do postnatal. One of them was to make sure and get witch hazel and put it on pads that go in the freezer (sorry if this is too much information for some, but it was like a light bulb moment for me today). I remember doing this before I had Kekoa and I was SO happy that I did, it really helped with healing.

I am hoping this week to get her room set up. This is driving me crazy, having her room so messy. I haven't been sleeping well at all, anxious and thinking about all the things I still need to do to get ready. Such a cruel thing to not be getting sleep now, when I know once she is here I really won't be getting any sleep!

32 weeks

Only two more months until this little zambina is due. I really can't believe it. In yoga class this past Thursday, the instructor asked what we would like to leave with. It was the perfect question because I have been having serious anxiety. I don't feel at all ready for her to come. Seeing the 3D ultra-sound just made it all so real. I was looking at her picture and thinking, oh my gosh, I am having a daughter! I wanted to leave yoga feeling at peace, calm, no anxiety...which I did. I love my prenatal yoga class, love the instructor, Marti Foster. She is the best. I wish she had a class every day and I could go every day.

My mom came today, which was nice because Scott and I could run some more baby errands. We went to Buy Buy Baby and got a lot of the stuff off the registry that we still needed. I still need to do a few more errands and organize her room, then I will feel ready.

I have been trying to eat a little bit more this past week. We have another appointment this upcoming Monday and I'm hoping she is growing strong and healthy. I've actually been more hungry this past week, so that is good. Peanut butter and apples is my new favorite snack. Yum, I might need to go have some right now.

I have been having horrible round ligament pain (I think that is what it is), right above my pubic bone. When I am walking at times, I have to just stop. I never had any of this with Kekoa, so it is all new. She just loves to hang out low and wiggle on my bladder...ouch!

I just want to get all the "stuff" done so I can relax a little bit before she comes and feel ready.
